I think the fact he's been publicly shamed and the embarassment of this for him ringing throughout the nation is punishment for him. He will never forget being in Court with the risk of jail hanging over him and the whole thing being all over the news. Also to do weeks and weeks of Community Service would feel like a proper punishment. I have never been in Court, or been formally punished or anything, but I imagine all this would be pretty bad to be on the receiving-end of. I'm also very pleased that something like this gets big coverage on national news programmes and the possibility of jail exists for doing something like this. I was surprised, all be it pleasantly so, when I saw the massive coverage this got. It shows we still take very seriously anyone defacing a memorial to our war dead. Do you remember those so called anarchist protesters in London a few years ago, where the statues and other objects in Westminster got defaced? Churchill's statue in PArliament Square was sprayed and so was the Cenotaph. People were in tears at what these scumbags had done to the Cenotaph, and I was very angry when I saw it on TV. There was no attempt to find the culprit as far as I am aware and it led me to think that defacing memorials to our war dead was not taken very seriously. What has happened this week with this student proves otherwise - and I am very glad about that.

There is no respect in this country anymore! Especially from the youth. Not for anything! I don't have a deep love for Armistace Day either, but never have i ever thought about urinating on a Cenotaph or a poopy display!

What was going through his head! Just another drunk showing off for his loutish mates i suspect. I hate students too and i hated them when i was one as well. But its more than just students, its the young and the declining parenting skills in this country!

all the students i encountered only wanted to go to the Union and get pissed while spouting nonsense!

While this is a generalisation, a lot of students want to learn and do better! A huge amount of them are there for nothing more than a piss up and there are a whole lot of them who are con artists, ripping off Access Funds for more 'Beer Money' and doing silly pranks! I bet thats what the whole thing was a prank to look good for his mates. Or to impress a girl as the teenage to early twenties girls now are worse than the guys!!!

i don't think he will feel any shame about that. He was only describing how disappointed he was in himself for his actions because he had been tutored to by his lawyer. He wanted a lenient punishment and he will be laughing about it right now with his mates!
