Hear no evil, See no evil
Although Campbell put up a determined defence, it was a bit like the knight in the Monty Python film keeping on fighting when he has no arms and legs.
One bit taken from the BBC summary
"The strongest line of questioning came from Sir Roderic Lyne, a former ambassador to Moscow. He was "puzzled" why caveats about the limited nature of the intelligence had been turned into the phrase "beyond doubt" used by Tony Blair in the dossier and in front of Parliament.
"Was Parliament misled?" wondered Sir Roderic. The answer was simple and typical: "No."
In other words despite the incredibly sketchy security information available and despite the fact that the Head of the Weapons program in Iraq who had gone to Jordan had already told the security forces that the weapons of mass destruction had been destroyed, Blair put that the evidence about WMD was "beyond doubt" in the introduction to the dodgy dossier.
And in reality, no WMD. Campbell/Blair - credibility blown to smithereens.
