Newspapers

Post by Dick Moby »

Do people read newspapers because of their views or do newspapers shape the views of people?
I take a paper into work, as do some of my workmates and I read the bits I want. I might then read the sports pages of another paper and the TV page of the next one.
Some people buy the Star because they can do the crossword and some people buy the Sun because of page 3. Why do some people think because they read paper ?A? their views are more balanced/valid than people who read paper ?B??

It never ceases to amaze me that i can read the same story in three different papers yet each story has a totally different slant on it... To such a degree i rarely take at face value what i read ... For years now the Guardian have held the tories up to be the anti christ tho the other day they did comment on labours gross mishandling of the economy so that was interesting, and a shock...For a good read on the train i quite enjoy the Daily mail,or the Express... tho for everyday consumption, its got to be the sun-a quick, easy read, with fab tits to ogle too!wink! ..... or really spoil myself and get the Sport!

Always certed, works to Hard BG/GG/ANAL/DP+EXTREME Fetish.
Easy going,fun,Hard Working,Professional
I turn up prepared,on time, ready to shoot what you want as I`m RELIABLE! ;)

I hate to say this but ...Scream the race card if you want but I dont mean to offend but why is it SOME (not necessarily YOU unless the shoe fits) white folk always believe what they read in the damn newspapers or what they hear or watch in the news.

Theres a couple of my friends I can really slap upside their head for how stubborn they are in their belief because "it said so in the papers, so therefore he/ she is guilty" Oh yeah and "He's black! He must be guilty!"

Man i should smack the taste out of a mans mouth for how staunch some people are when it comes to the media.

This is why movies with their creative licences should be real careful how they tell historic events.

I can remember reading somewhere recently about Tarantinos Inglourious Bastards taking libertys for being inaccurate about history regarding Hitler that it didnt happen that way.

Please tell me a white man didnt say that?

Ok i dont mean to diss all white people but I can honestly say those who have wound me up with their belief were always white people. I'm surprised these same white people didnt believe in Jesus Christ and the church too

Sorry for bringing up colour but it must be the news is in black and white. Often times the subject matter is a grey area.

I read a mix of papers... The Guardian because it's broadly in line with my own politics, but I also read The Telegraph and The Times or The Independent

I wouldn't be seen dead with a copy of The Sun or the Daily Mail in my hands... both loathsome in their own ways, and I pity those who read the former and despise those who read the latter.

You question reminds me of a scene in an old Zucker Brothers movie where they show a variety of characters while a narrator gives their details. A series of serious, well composed looking characters is shown while the narrator tells us of their impressive achievements (nuclear physicist, neurosurgeon, billionaire inventor etc). Finally, we are shown a jibbering idiot while we are told that this man knows only what he reads in The National Enquirer.

But anyway, I read newspapers that tend to reinforce my political/social opinions. I know it's narrow minded but I think everyone does this. Advertisers have known for years that people respond best when they're told what they want to hear - and newspapers are all about circulation after all.

I seldom read newspapers as you are only getting one persons view on a story or subject ie: the columnist, would that same person be prepared to stand on a soap box at Speakers Corner and shout their views, i very much doubt it !rant!

I haven't read a newspaper for probably 20 years now because back then the 'anti porn brigade' were 'out to get us' by any means and actually did with me once.
I decided I just needed the information of what had occured rather than some idiots opinion about it, so TV news is better (usually less biased anyway or opinionated).
So now tinterweb can do it all really. Newspapers should hopefully die and maybe even the twatty reporters that wrote bollocks 20 years ago !

You read the papers you like and the Guardian because it agrees with your politics. That reply is the reason I asked the question in the first place. Other people read their papers' for the same reason but to say you pity and despise people for their choice of reading is a bit ott.
Do you consider yourself to be better then Mail and Sun readers ?

I don't like either The Times or the Telegraph, but I read them to get a different perspective.
