Re: Fat people on aeroplanes
I would imagine that real porkers would be charged for two seats - on account of them taking up two seats. Someone who is really fat isnt going to fit between the two arm rests and therefore will spill over into the next seat and would have to have two. Internal flights within America are famous for having the fatties taking up two seats. I have been to the States a few times and there are so many fat people there. In the UK our chubby buddies dress in baggy clothes, in the USA you will see some 25 stone man and he will be wearing just a tight t-shirt, skin tight tennis shorts, and some flip-flops. You will see people like that standing at the counter in one of those 'all you can eat' diners, putting as many things on his tray as he can. No problem for him for the world to see him as the whale that he is. I always remember that film "Supersize Me", it says "America has the biggest cars, the biggest corporations, the biggest buildings, and also the biggest people. So true...

Good work guys.
I would also like to add cripples to the list of people who should be charged more. Being disabled is going to make it much harder for them to get off the plane quickly in event of an accident. This will obviously potentially hold me up.
And what about, the mentally challenged. They would be flapping around not even understanding what is going on. Ditto for being charged more.
And what about women. We all know how crap they are in a crisis. Checking their lipstick at the last minute before impact etc.
Now I realise that this might make air travel prohibitively expensive for overweight, mentally challenged, female cripples, but hey I think this is a price they should pay.
Don't you?

That's because you see fat people as people who aren't ill. Obesity is often a symptom of an eating disorder. Not for all, but how would you distinguish the ones that just can't be arsed and those that just can't?
Obesity is a problem exasperated by a consumer-driven society. The more we consume the richer someone gets....and that includes food. It's as much the fault of big business as it is the victims. I know what you're going to say: "Well, no one's forcing them to eat!" Well, you're wrong. Someone is forcing them and it's called nature. Some of us can fight nature better than others and some cannot. You should be thankful you can stop eating rather than resent others who cannot.
Blame doesn't educate, understanding does. Educate yourself and understand; be willing to understand and you might educate yourself. You see, there's something in it for you too!

Oh dear, some people are taking this very seriously arent they. On the question of whether eating a lot more than one ought to, and being heavier as a result, can be compared to being disabled, having mental issues, or being female, I don't really think I need to answer that one.

I would agree that some people have a condition that may make them eat more than they should and are then heavier as a consequence, some people are big as small children and are big as adults and that is sad as it may be a hereditory thing - and all the people who fall into those catagories we feel sorry for. But 99% of fat people are fat because of their lifestyle, people who chose to not eat the right foods and who will drive to the shops, if they are only 500 yards from their house, rather than walk, and so on. Most people who are on the plump side have only themselves to blame.

Max,
I think it is you taking this a bit seriously. My original post was entirely satirical.
