Too many channels, same, and falling, advertising revenue to be spread out amongst them. The price of producing decent content goes up, whilst the income goes down. Difficult to see a way out of it. I doubt enough channels will fail quickly enough to redress the balance.

I have to agree that UK TV is crap but you have to watch TV in other parts of the world to realise how lucky we are.

Try watching TV elsewhere. British TV may be mediocre in many areas but sport, documentaries and many dramas are a cut above anything I've seen elsewhare in Europe, the US, Asia and South America.

In fact most of the best TV in these areas comes from the BBC and independent UK production house ptrogrammes for the major UK broadcasters.

The difference between TV quality in the UK and Ireland, given their proximity, is astonishing - in fact a majority of people in Ireland watch UK output for at least 50% of the time, either directly, by satellite or on TV3

As for radio, Radios One and Two are similar to many stations around the world but Radio 4 is head and shoulders above anything else - the nearest comparison is a few PBS radio stations in parts of the US, but then only in a limited number of areas of content.

Quite right, you don't get any of that foreign muck on our TV's.
I'm thinking along the lines of Prisoner Cell Block H or Neighbours.
You must remember that this is prime time viewing for some places.
Not having a dig at the Aussies but UK television (for all the shite it produces)is still vastly superior to any other countrys', though I stand to be corrected.
