Stills camera advice

Post by andy at handiwork »

Having decided that a 5D MkII is beyond my means I am toying with getting a 600D. Does anybody here have one? I understand its quite a decent bit of kit for the money. Worth getting or is there anything else in a similar price bracket that is a good buy instead?

Have no experience of 600D at all. However I don't know if you are aware of the dpreview site which is the most comprehensive camera info site on the web. Here is a link to an in-depth review.

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos600d/

The website also has a Forum section where I am sure you will be able to read about all sorts of plaudits and gripes about this camera from experienced users

Hope this might help.

Thanks for that DJ. I'd still like to hear from anyone on here who has one though.

Can I ask how much you paid and what lenses you have with it?

it came with a kit lens : 18-55 but i have a sigma 18-250 then have canon's 50 mm fixed, 55-200 and 24-105 all of which work fine with the body.

the nikon 5100 is very similar and has good reviews but i'm a canon man!

I have no lenses, I'm starting from scratch. As with any field in which there are a few contenders of basically equal quality I have cut to the chase and plumped for the one I like the look of, reviews-wise.

As for subject matter, I will be mostly shooting landscapes. I cant afford to photograph beautiful young ladies with their kit off, more's the pity.

I'll have to make do with the one it comes with for a while but a w/a is high on my wish list as I will be doing landscape stuff mostly.
