Seventeen website

Does anyone know if aol have deliberately stopped users from connecting?

The (aol) service has already worsened since they are avidly trying to promote their (very expensive) broadband service, now I cannot get to this site (a paysite too) which I occasionally use.

I have unsubscribed from ClubSeventeen now anyway (although all links to any part of clubseventeen fail, I did find an old e-mail from their billing dept thankfully) - I do tend to join for a couple of months, unsubsribe, then rejoin about half a year later anyway, but I am curious as to which 'uncensorious' ISP to go for next, or maybe to wait for broadband to get cheaper, and find an open minded broadband ISP.

In case anyone is wondering ClubSeventeen do assure potential members that all girls are of legal age/18 and above.

All things being equal they should rename their site

'Club Eighteen'

Can't see how an ISP could hinder you getting access to any site.

Fair comments Buttsie (on both accounts).

All I know, is I cannot connect to their site in any way. All the advertising links are present; at first I had to find other ways to their login page other than the bookmark I have, now I cannot get to their login page wherever I start from. I am no expert on the web, but I do get the impression it's deliberate blocking - I have heard how some ISP's do not allow access to sites/newsgroups deemed 'unsuitable'.

At the end of the day the site is legal to my knowledge, as the legal info I have read (several times - I wish to stay on the right side of the law myself!) certainly suggests that.

The only other possibility is that the site is no longer operating internationality due to pressure from those who disapprove.

They do use young looking girls; however if every man who simply *looked* at a teenage girl was prosecuted etc, there would not be many men left on the streets.

It does seem to me that the recent abductions in the UK of girls, and the fact that aol is an American company (Americans can be censorious) may have something to do with it, although if that is the case, seems like 2+2=5 on their part...

I just tried the site no problems

What is the exact message you get?

Sometimes initial addresses reject even when the address is ok.
Thats what I've found searching on

You might want to try a forced refresh...Hold the control key down and hit f5 at the same time.If theres a problem in your memory that should solve it.

Yes man, email AOL and ask them if they have barred access to that site? If they reply yes, ask them why this is and say that you will probably not renew your contract with them when it runs out. If the site was illegal it would have been shut down long ago, but maybe AOL are taking the American Christian Right Wing high ground. Ps, you could try accessing it through a third party rerouting site. Peace In Porn!

Buttsie, thanks for the advice; are you with AOl though?

Hi

I have heard that AOL are set up to block adult sites, some will get through, but I would guess that any sites with a key word on it will be blocked.

Are you using AOL softwear to serfe the net or standard Internet Explorer?

I'm using AOL to connect to the web, not IE.

I suspect keywords like lolita (even though the girls are legal) offend aol's sensibilities.

There,s no problem with the site fig! if you use IE, AOL in my
humble opinion have gone down the "holier than thou" route, and have been sliding that way for a couple of years now. They have deleted or filtered out a lot of adult content, and if you look at thier advertising you can see this.
It,s their loss, they will stand or fall on thier decision. My advice would be to change ISP,s, and although it can be hard work, get rid of all AOL directories, reg entries, everything
AOL on your PC, or they will come back to huant you. If you have a problem doing this , mail me, I can tell you how to get rid of everything.
