Naming conventions - what name to use ?

Post by corona »

I?m using Swedish company Scand Vip here. They appear to release 3 films on one cassette. While each film has its own name, the cassette has a collective name. I think it is best to use the collective name, and view the individual films as shorts or chapters. But, then I think each film is a film in its own right, even it ifs only a 20 - 30 minute shorts.

There are similar problems associated with collected 70s loops, of course.

In general where these are listed as a single title, each individual component will
be detailed under that header but will naturally still show up in a database search.
Even individual 'episodes' of titles like the 'Private Stories' series will show
in the search-facility where noted under the general title.

In the case of Color Climax loops which have been collected, we list the loop title and the collection title as database entries - because the collection titles are still reasonably available, especially the Bestsellers series. Other collection titles (including earlier CC collection titles) we mention only in the notes because there would be too many of them to spend the time finding them all and listing them.

In the case of Scand VIP collections, I think it would be best to use the collection title as a database entry and detail the vignette titles in the notes, as for the Private magazine-type series. However, if the vignettes reappeared in other collections, there might be cause for a rethink, but probably not as many of the Private Video Magazine vignettes have reappeared. However, having said that, I'm not sure what practice has been followed on bgafd for early-90s American releases of Scandinavian titles featuring Nikki Kennedy, for example. I think in those cases there were sometimes two films on one VHS and at least one of them might be longer than an hour.

I read that as a pragmatic approach- and none the worse for that : -)

Re Nikki K, I'm rather confused by her listing- but that may be more to do with
insufficient study on my part than the method of of presentation ;- 0)

There may be some unknown overlap - or unknown unknown overlap :) - resulting from information having been obtained from at least three sources re various versions of the Swedish titles and not having seen all the titles/versions in question.
