Coming on Strong

Post by jj »

.

I can find no evidence to suggest that Marilyn appeared in this, barring the
HotMovies note: "Caballero did not include the scene with Marilyn Jess and Ron
Jeremy on the DVD version they released in 2005. Neither actor is seen in this
movie."..... this bald assertion that a "missing" scene featured Marilyn and
Jeremy is unsupported and I believe has been extrapolated from the anonymous
egafd-contributor's statement [see also note at bottom]".... then this may
have involved Ron Jeremy.....", which I believe in turn stems from iafd's
listing of him as amongst the cast but without an assignation to any of the
scenes. Note that nowhere in iafd is there any listing of a scene featuring
Marilyn and Jeremy together, or even a film featuring both albeit in different
scenes- it is hard in this context to envisage from what source any "missing"
scene could have been compiled.
Alec seems to have drawn this conclusion too. If she was ever in the VHS [and
there seems no evidence whatsoever to support this contention either] we
anyway have little or no chance of verifying it now.

I prefer to assume that Caballero doubly screwed-up, by crediting Marilyn
and by illustrating the covers with two pics of Marilyn instead of pics of Sam
Strong [I suppose there's a superficial similarity- they're both blonde and
female]. It wouldn't be the first time that a flick [especially a comp.] has
been planned with the artwork out-of-synch with the contents. If the omission
came to light it may have been too late or too expensive to redo the covers.
Caballero also managed to select two shots which manage to make La Jess [and
it definitely is her] look almost ordinary- no mean feat, but one that ought
to be punishable by penal servitude....

[Note: I am assuming that the iafd page linked to on the above has been
updated since the egafd page was published, since the IDs in the former now
seem to be complete [and AFAICT correct] and thus out of step with the
current egafd text].

Of course, if anyone has the VHS then I may just be able to use the above
the next time I visit the lavatory : -))

Yes, I think iafd did list Marilyn Jess at one point, presumably also misled by Caballero cover credits.

I wonder whether it is more useful to keep the listing in order to dispel any myth or to delete this title altogether.

I have not seen the DVD or VHS version of this movie.
From my personal notes it seems to be a compilation.
I think it was originally released (in VHS) sometime in late 1988 or very early 1989.
The original VHS version clocked at about 67 minutes.
I don't know what was added to the DVD version to apparently now make it 72 (as EGAFD notes indicate) or 78 minutes (as IAFD indicates).
Was Jess in the original VHS release? Don't know, but Caballero had a habit of compiling things from time to time even with foreign footage/scenes of films they distributed. Either way, even if a Jess scene was included in the original VHS re;lease, I would wager it was not a NEW scene but sometiything from a previous release.

Whilst looking at this I wavered from favouring deletion, to retention as footnote,
and finally back to deletion.
For me the most telling point is the absence of proof that ANY Jess/Jeremy
scene exists.
