Hi group
Does anyone know what has happened to Bluebird films? Not seeing any new releases from them and was wondering when they are going to bring Macbeth Act 2, & 3??
thanks
What's Happened to Bluebird Films?
Re: What's Happened to Bluebird Films?
Don't know. Probably scaled down considerably (or stopped production altogether) since its owner/founder
Paul Chapin exited (sold it) about 2 years ago.

I'd love to have seen a balance-sheet.
BB always struck me as little more than a vanity-project with the main aim of
getting Chaplin laid as much as possible. Fine, unless you need to make
money as well- and they never really got a foothold in the States [let alone
Europe].

Re: What's Happened to Bluebird Films?
I don't know what you mean by "foothold", but the Bluebird movies
were widely distributed in North America (both in DVD and cable/satellite).
I really don't know about Europe as I don't reside there and don't really know the
porn market there that well.
Nobody has ever denied they were vanity extravaganzas by Chaplin, who
threw money in those bloated productions (with a cast of 30+ performers).
Whether they recouped their costs down the line after ancillary distribution/rights
were factored in, I really don't know.
In any event, in today's economy it would not have been able to sustain
those production costs, and Chaplin sold out at the right time.

Re: What's Happened to Bluebird Films?
From everything I've read it sounds like they couldn't pay there affiliates and have no money left to do anything..
I wonder what is going to happen to their media archive ? From what I understand there was loads of films produced but never released. I was particularly interested in their "PC Collection & Gotha" brands . Does anyone know how to get or when this collection will see the light of day? (either in the US or Europe?)
So where's Chaplin gone???

Re: What's Happened to Bluebird Films?
The last industry/business article I read about BlueBird Films was this one posted
at AVN on May 24, 2012 at the time Chaplin exited the company.
This partial quote from this article stated that:
Gamma Entertainment and Bluebird Films have inked an exclusive partnership
whereby Famedollars, an award-winning subsidiary of Gamma, will manage and market
Bluebird's web properties under its affiliate program. In addition to the website operation,
Bluebird also grants Gamma a worldwide and exclusive multi-year license to manage its
catalog for both broadcast and VOD.
I really have no clue how/what Gamma has been doing with the Bluebird catalogue,
or whether they have the financial means to revamp the BB name for further movie productions.
Where has Chaplin gone? Don't know. Probably roaming the seas on his yacht.

Re: What's Happened to Bluebird Films?
I got the impression that they weren't doing that well on the DVD side in the
USA. I know little about the web side, though...
OTOH, any outfit that comes up with gibberish like "Our ability to capitalize
on the paradigm shifts of our industry..." richly deserves to fail : -)

Re: What's Happened to Bluebird Films?
Pitty I really thought Bluebird was going to be a company to watch out for. I remember it partnered with Private for a while. At least Private got out before the ship sunk.
The films are well worth having . I'm sure, like me, there are plenty of disappointed fans out there.
My fav films included :
Alice
Murder, Mystery Weekend Act 1,2,3
Secret Garden
S?ance
Motorbirds 1&2
Stormtroopers 1 & 2 (would recommend to everyone!!!!)
Who Stole Roger Rabbit
If anyone hears of any new material surfacing please let the group know..
Re: What's Happened to Bluebird Films?
What I found surprising (if not frustrating) was their very hectic release schedule.
A certain number had high budgets and had a very huge cast.
But they were being released way too quickly, before one had the opportunity
to view one a half a dozen other titles were thrown your way within
the next few days/weeks. Way too much product was released down the
porn pipeline.
Example (incomplete US DVD release schedule) between Aug-Sept 2010:
ALICE - Aug 3/2010
BLACK SHACK - Aug 10/2010
SEVEN DEADLY SINS - Aug 24/2010
Footballers Wives: First Half - Aug 24/2010
WIRE - Aug 31/2010
Department S Misson 3 - Aug 31/2010
TV Babes XXX - Sept 7/2010
Independence Day - Sept 7/2010
Bonny and Clide - Sept 14/2010
BatFXXX: Dark Knight Parody - Sept 28/2010
Anyway they were essentially all vanity productions where Chaplin was
the producer (financier) and main star attraction. That sort of
of product could not be sustained for a very long period and it was bound
to drastically scale down or shut down.
By the time Chaplin exited in May 2012, there was hardly anything of any
great importance that was being produced/released by BlueBird. And DVD titles
were being released without even a director's name appearing on the credits,
which really told you a lot.

Re: What's Happened to Bluebird Films?
Seems like the US got the better end of the deal. Most of the titles never made it to these shores.
I'm still searching for loads (ie Macbeth, Jello sluts, Parking Wardens etc...)
btw on the website Bluebird.com , Paul Chaplin has a few clips. It this library that they need to get out there..
One other thing...for all the nonsense Bluebird have done lately we have to give them some credit...they did a fantastic job with Batxx & Katwoman didn't they??Who will take up the gauntlet to make such classics like this now??
Who would be the best directors to take over this legacy?? In my opinion - Rob Black, Christopher Clark, Joey Silvera, Ben Dover, Tanya Hyde
