I've made two home amateur films for personal use, both using a complete bodge of everday equipment. Got as far as successfully dubbing in a soundtrack and editing clips together using two video recorders then duplicating one at a time.I'm now thinking of expanding my horizons - have I missed anything from the following list to produce a resonable quality but obviously amateur film for re-sale?
Script
Cast
Location
Camera
Editing facility
Soundtrack
Duplicating
Packaging
BBFC
Distribution
Any more?
Budding producer needs advice?
Re: Budding producer needs advice?
That does about cover it, but you may need some additional equipment like extra mikes, lighting etc.
Go for a digital camera, and PC or Mac based editing system - I can recommend some if you want.
The big problem is going to be the BBFC certification - this is pretty expensive.

The one main ingredient to the pudding is:MONEY!
...or the other famous scam, which has been applied throughout time and which is evil,is pay nobody and make millions of promises.
A true sign of an Amateur through and through...
Anyone out there wanting to be a 'producer'pay off your models and everything else connected to the production...if your production is a flop, hard luck...stay out of the business right this minute.
...or go back to school or leave it to the Professionals.

Re: Budding producer needs advice?
We've all got to start somewhere.....not everyone is looking to run a scam! The 'professionals' probably needed some guidance in their early days too.
Re: Budding producer needs advice?
I'd be pleased to hear your recommendations on equipment, although my budget is not vast.
help is at hand
Hello Peter
I would be happy to shoot you some material DV cam for about ?200 for the day and I mean all day. If you don't like the footage then it's just hire costs of ?100. I have seen some professional shoots and they looked awful. Two cameras at a shoot are better than one any day. Mail me for info. Most people get the sound all wrong and with digital video sound levels are critical.
