O/T Playing MPEG downloads on a DVD

Post by Colin »

This maybe a stupid question but is there any way of playing my downloaded MPEG's (on a CD-R) on my DVD player so that I can watch them on a 28" widescreen TV rather than my monitor? Initial research suggests spending ?30 on "Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum" software package that creates/saves Video CDs.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

First of all don't buy Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum, very very unstable program. Plus you can get all the software you need for free.

I suggest your first port of call for more information than you will ever need is:

You can get all the software you need from there also.

You could also use a TV out card and ply the MPEG on your PC whist viewing on your TV.

Your main problem is going to be quality. Increase the size of the MPEG and decrease viewing quality. If it looks OK at full screen on your PC you might get away with it on your TV - just!!

You might need another hack code for your DVD player to get it to play DVD-R or VCD format as well, depending on what hardware you have.

(the cheapo Chinese DVDs are a better prospect for this sort of activity than buying 'Top Brand' kit, or so it would seem)

by far the best kit for the creation of vcd's - and the most user friendly, imo - is a piece of freeware to be found at: . you can download the latest version from here:

as ghost dog says, all the info you'll ever need about this process is to be found on and on the vcdeasy website.
