First British shaven snatch?

Post by Steve Stevenage »

Sorry to hog the message board, but I've been puzzling over whose was the first shaven minge to appear in top shelf mags. I am older enough to remember Stephanie MaClean's hiisuite appearance shot in the Seychelles by her later) husband, top lensman Clive Maclean in UK Penthouse back in the ealier eighties, and it was between Janine and the Lynn sisters to appear shaven in the States but WHOse was the first to appear shaven? Any ideas? Sadly the missus threw out my precious collection when the floorboard threatened to collapse so anything pre mid Nineties was skipped. Jo Guest was an early shaver- and I mean partial, butthe first fully Brit??? There's a nice cunnundrem for you

I recall Knave magazine had their resident model, Mandy Moore shave her bush in a pictorial in about 1975, this magazine was eagerly passed around school with a 'waiting list' of 5th Formers 'pulling rank' over us 13 year olds.

Most glamour models pre 1970 were shaved. As Joe points out there was a lot of retouching but professional models saved the photographer the trouble.

Shaving seems to have accompanied the introduction of glamour mags, principally Playboy, where pubes were forbidden. Prior to this all nudity was under the counter so shaving wasn't necessary.

See this example probably from the 50's.

The site has historical porn back to the 1860's

It all really took off about the time the repressed paedophile market was first identified.
No normal bloke can consider it an improvement and I for one devoutly wish it would crawl back into its minority niche.
Its also got a lot to do with the models being scared of getting bitched at for not conforming.

Indeed - all early (Victorian) porn featured Shaven ladies as pubes were frowned upon somewhat. Therefore a more intersting "factoid" would be: "Who first showed her pubes"?

1938 Daily Mirror published a nude by Roye ('the erotic arts' by Peter Webb informs me that this was the first time a British daily paper published a nude photo)
Roye also published work in a pre-war nudist magazine "Art Studies" which seem to have a level of kitch (the book talks about an airbrushed nude woman nailed to a cross 'Tommorrow's Crucifixion" 1938)

bio ?

'The Erotic Arts' also talks about the first book to be published of male and female nudes possibly being 'Among the nudists' by Frances and Mason Merrill.

I think the original question related to modern "open-leg" poses. Anybody over a "certain age" ( mine :-) ) will recall the airbrushed models in 1950's & 1960's mags, and their shock to discover that women had pubic hair and external genitalia when the "Sullivan" type mags appeared in the late 1970s.

So, who first showed a completely shaven haven that a gynaecologist would recognise as the real thing?

PS On the "Come Play With Me" topic, it was a shite film as released in the UK. Perhaps one day someone will find the "legendary" uncut version ( of which, of course, only one print is said to exist! ) I'll bet it's in the same vault as "Stacey & Shona's Gangbang", all that Teresa May hardcore stuff and the picture of Harry Houdini locking himself out of his car :-)

page 187 of 'come play with me' by simon sheridan has '...the only surviving print - now sadly disintegrating - resides at a secret address in the faded sea-side resort of Westcliffe-on-sea.'
