Camcorder advice and recommendations

Post by Stockie »

Wanting some advice for getting a camcorder. Been offered a Canon XL1S for ?800 (it was used to shoot weddings but the guy who owned it died a few months ago, his son is selling it everything is there charger cables batteries manual mic etc etc and is apparently in good working order), or a XM2 for ?650 from same person (this was a back up apparently) but what's difference between XM2 and XL1S?. What I want to know though is whether it's the right thing buying a machine like this or should I be better to think about a high def camcorder and if I was to what make and model would be suggested that would be low cost?

I used to use the XM2's nice camera :)

The XL series is considered the 'pro' choice and has interchangable lense and loads of extra features.

The lense cost more than the actual camera tho so be warned.

Those prices aint too bad either.

It is said that both love and truth walk hand in hand. But if the need is great enough, can we learn to love a lie?

Thanks Cenobitez, is there noticeable difference between the two models in the end results though? Not that it matters on price which I went for of the two but just interested if there's anything between them regarding quality of picture.

Don't buy any secondhand camcorders. Buy a new Sony mini DV and you won't go far wrong!
