Buy my own,or pay someone else?

A question...

We're about to start filming video and stills for our new site.

My question is...should we invest in the camera, or just pay someone else to shoot the footage who has their own stuff?

To me its best to have your own gear & have full control over whats being filmed & edited, other problems can be relying on other people after you've already booked models etc..

Buy kit and DIY. The "commissioning" option is more expensive and unless you are a deep pocketed distributor, probably not the way to go.

That said, if you want to book Martina X (see other post) I'm happy to bring my camera and lights.

A question (Another 2!)... to anyone out there who could film stuff for me, could you quote me a 'ballpark' price per scene etc?

Also, as a newby, what camcorder would be a good starter model? We'd like to shoot in good quality HD
