Hi Nikonman,
Well thats kinda apt actually !laugh!
Having decided to make the transition (finally) from 35mm film to Digital - the camera of choice (to get to grips with) is a Nikon D40, standard 18-55mm lens plus an additional Tamron (Nikon fit of course) 70-300mm Lens(motorised) - I'm quite pleased with it - got the camera , both lenses and shedloads of other bits and bobs for the very nice price of ?230.00
Ok, maybe not ready to play with the big big boys yet - but a good camera to 'make my Bones' on I think

Thanks Twister - Bigger and better to come
Re: Make your Nuts tighten !!!
Sounds like you have picked up a good bargain there.
Was it on Ebay?

Absolutely nowt wrong with a D40 and kit lens Mr Spanner !thumbsup!
I won't knock it even though I use a Canon !laugh!. Damn good price too for what you got.
Assuming it was from eBay, may I suggest you have a shufty there for a studio lighting kit as a future purchase? Far better results than using the oncamera flash.
Looking forward to seeing some of your masterpieces Mr Bailey !wink!

Re: Nikonman and Myson - Cool dudes Both .
Hi Guys,
Just wanted to say thanks for the words of encouragement - 'Mr Bailey' indeed (oh I wish) Now all I have to do is get used to having more buttons and functions to play with than the cockpit of a 747 !laugh!
Actually it wasnt E-bay, but from a very good semi-pro tog mate of mine !thumbsup! who was upgrading to an all singing all dancing Newbie bit of kit (still doesn't make you a cup of tea in the morning though does it Mitch!!), but saying that my next purchase will indeed be some lighting kits off e-bay in the meantime Natural light and the bounce flash will have to do !grin!.
Bit sodding different to the ol 35mm film jobbies aint they.
Had a wee play with it this evening just as the sun was settling down for the night - got storm to have a wee dress up !laugh!- still a lot to learn methinks....
