Promoting on Facebook update

I had an intresting reply, at least I thought so, from Facebook on this.

Without transcribing the whole message, as you can imagine it's quite longwinded given the ammount of issues & they're sort of not happy that I've taken up their time on this. Plus it's a different person that responds each time.

Ok they say that previously they tried to introduce an "age restricted content" filter where users were unable to view certain profiles & content that was flagged as mature if their date of birth indicated they were under 21. They're unclear as to why the removed this or what it allowed users to post exactly.

Any content removed basically comes down to user complaints as facebook say it's "not practical" for them to monitor every profile & they "rely on users indentifying inappropriate content". I've still not had an answer as to why the one complaint & deletion rule only seems to apply to adult models/performers/producers & it seems clearly a case of discrimination, "Pornstar" is not a dirty word in fact to me it indicates the exact opposite considering what more than a few people do for free in pubs & clubs round my way.

I'm very close to getting deleted on this so additional comments or ideas to help me argue this would be great, so I go down in a bit of a Facebook annoying blaze of glory so to speak.

You should point out how their over reliance of users indentifying inappropriate content leaves the door open for grudge match tit for tit attacks. Totally acceptable accounts could be deleted simply because someone has a grudge.

There should be very clear guidelines on exactly what is and isn't acceptable and only if it falls outwith the acceptable parameters does something get done. Also, it is unfair for them to delete an account with no warning system whatsoever. Someone could be breaking the laws totally innocently, but the first they know about it is when their account is closed.

It's how unfairly those rules are applied when it comes to adult entertaiment & models/perfomers in particular.
There is something wrong with a system that allows criminals to harrass their victims from behind bars to the point of victims having to take legal action (as per recent news) to get a profile removed when all it takes is 1 report to remove a model. Their most recent reply indicates they were ok with models/performers/producers.

Why get arsey is a valid point. I just can't reconcile with how badly the adult industry gets treated when it actually does a lot of good. Models/performes bare the brunt of that when they are people more worthy of respect than most, they're worth making a fuss over. I dont know why people keep on about how the adult industry gets badly treated.

I have been in it nearly 11 years and have never experienced prejudice.

I've seen what I think is unfair treatment of models/performers in particular.

I've a love & affinity for porn beyond most so maybe I put too much emphasis on stuff like this, it just to me it seems incrediably unfair to single out profiles relating to adult entertainment in light of some of the stuff they allow.
Not going off my point but in terms of BBFC ratings porn is given an incrediably unfair deal as accepts violence more readily than sex.

My opinion & one I'll argue for. Othes agree or disagree as per their own experiences.

Hi matt i understand why you are doing this as myself have been deleted a few times now, and for no reason at all. there was nothing on my profiles that was not allowed which was set out in the rules made by facebook, if there is a complaint made then they should at least look in to it and not just delete the account as they have deleted several over the last couple of months for no reason. i know allot of girls now use facebook for contacts and networking and also for work and to advertise when they are free and working or if they are working on the tv.

annap sorry to sound rude but if you didnt liek the posts then why reply there is no need to be rude to people because they are trying to help other people.

Thanks Crystal it's because I know the great people behind the talent & pretty faces, like yourself, that just makes it seem all the more wrong that you're targeted, in my view, unfairly.

Annap I'd be a hypocrite if I condemned anyone for their view given that I'm sort of arguing for freedom of expression albeit it is a bit strange that a post was so boring it was worthy of coment. Thank you for contribution & I'm sorry if I've bored you but I hope that you at least read what I wrote & didn't just make a sardonic comment for the sake of it.

Sxciisooky I did read you post I wasn't being arrogant by not addressing it sorry just I was working from my mobile & it takes forever to load up & I missed it orignally. The points you raise are all ones I agree with & thanks for your support. I definately will be incorparating the "grudge match" aspect to my next reposte with Facebook.

There are far more important things posted on BGAFD, as I've just realised reading a recent post, but even if I'm not posting this on here know that I'm still arguing for fair treatment all are welcome to message me for updates.

I understand that there is discrimination against people in the adult industry compared to the 'ordinary folk' I have been the victim of it and I'm not particularly pervy or outspoken about my affiliation... I'm not even that established or 'big.' Yet people consider it fair game to restrict services and treat me in a different manner to others.

It pisses me off. It makes me angry. It upsets me.

In the case of facebook and other social network sites though they do have their rules and internal policies, it is not 'our' web site, even as a user/member, they like to give the impression of a community built on user input - but it really isn't!

I would not like someone joining my site then complaining about a decision I made in terms of the content, design or operation. It is mine, as Facebook, Twitter and others belong to other individuals or corporations.

I'm all for fair treatment of performers and producers, in fact I am a great advocate of the UK industry and wish it would expand and become a major contender to the States. I think the UK has something really unique and intimate with a lot of the content shot over here. It's not as glossy and highly produced and that is a great look to put the viewer in the 'action' seat.

Anyway, I'm off to my day job - the downside to just starting out producing porn!
