I am about to get another camcorder and want something that meets these criteria

- Records to SD card
- Wide angle
- Cost less than ?2K

Any advice for what I should get?

The wide angle is really important - what do you guys use in terms of lenses? etc..?

I wanted something HD with that spec. In the end I put this together. It's probably a bit smaller than you had in mind, but it is perfect for close gonzo style website filming. It's a Panasonic HDC-TM300 which has a built in 32GB memory and it also takes an SD card - so you can record up to 24 hours of HD! I fitted the Panasonic wide angle lens VW-W4307H and the DC light VW-LDC103. The whole think got a bit front heavy, so I did a bit of metalworking and made a handle for it that screws into the tripod mount. The whole thing cost about ?1300.

My worry with that setup is the quality of the wide angle converter

what are the results like? Do you have any scenes on you have shot with it online?

Are the edges soft? What is it like with lower light?

I've only just started using it so I've not got anything on line with it yet. Heres a video capture which shows some features at the edges of the shot - you can see the detail of the cat's fur looks uniform across the image.

Low light performance isnt the best - which is why I put the light on it.
