Okay, this all depends on what you're really wanting to achieve.
There are some pretty good handycams out there that can produce good enough HD quality but you might have a slight issue with handycams like the Sony range:

(I have one of these too)
The issue will be that perhaps the lens will not have a wide enough angle for POV.
The Sony HDR FX-1E goes to 4mm wide and so can handle POV easily. The handycams won't.
Now if you can get someone else to shoot you (I'm assuming you will be the male star in the vids) then they can shoot over your shoulder and you'll still get a POV video. Or perhaps you can shoot over someone else's shoulder for the same result?

The Sony HC1 is a good little starter HD camera. Its not too big and pretty light so im sure it would be suitable for POV plus you can buy wide angle lenses, shotgun mics, on camera lights etc for it just as you can with the bigger cameras like the Z1 and Z5.

Make sure its a PAL camera (assuming UK use) Most of the eBay cameras are NTSC, or cunningly marked PAL/NTSC compatible. NTSC tends to be cheaper, but its a nightmare if you ever want to use (my!) editing services, and will cost a fortune and lose quality to convert to PAL.

Of course, if all you ever want to do is shoot stuff for website use, NTSC will suffice.
We have need of you again, great king.

I've had a look at the specs and reviews and the Sony HC1 looks good to me.
