I havent been on UKAP for a while. How do you mean negativity?

The adult business is quite cut throat & a lot of people do pass bollocks around. Most people in the business I know, are quite decent.

There are only a cpl of folk that are pretty much idiots, from another forum, not here. They both began cussing a cpl of the models I worked with. How rude, as models are actual women! Is this the kind of negative motion you mean? I never noticed that from UKAP.

I've thought about this and thought hard but it seemed many of the snidey posters who hide behind keyboard alter egos who post on bitch fest forums like the now defunct huffers have made it clear they didnt like us because we decided to not include the general heckling crowd into our password protected forum.

It snowballed from there. When UKAP spearheaded the health initiative these same said anti brit porn saboteurs decided to use their influence to start talking foul shit accusing us of trying to control the porn industryand as rumours would have it, a lot of people usually believe what they read without finding out for themselves.

Thankfully in recent times we've found that most of the industry we care about and are there for have made up their own minds we are a decent bunch trying to do the right thing and then we started hearing all the reasons why they were apprehensive about being associated because of the negative comments which have also come from the old guard dinosaurs who see any kind of change as a fearful thing and some have even joined to try and control it from within and failed then left to bitch on about it.

Others would be non producers who cant even be clased as serious amateurs who saw us a threat to their fun with their fake certs and such. Plus it didnt help much with me over zealously defending my interests and suddenly overnight Terry Stephens was the bad guy mouth piece willing to pick a fight with anyone bad mouthing an association just trying to do good for its community.

I think we may have alienated a fair few fans by not allowing them to come to the parties. Believe me, there was nothing more we could do in making this happen because as I stated before, some of the models threatened they would not attend if it was going to be with fans in attendance and hence it is why we kept it as an industry network party

Personally it would be a lot more commercial if we could include the fans but it was put to a vote that in order to maintain the party fixture to the meetings we had to finance the parties ourselves

I think UKAP is very much misunderstood by those who malign it.

Someone asked me recently, why am I the only one speaking up for UKAP? Well because we know it has a bad rep out here it isnt progressive to keep fighting it and it doesnt really affect what we are doing and found the less public we have made our affairs the less chance it will get interfered with.

All the members are pleased we are at a point where it benefits the business and our own interests and if truth be known, most producers in it are normal folk who really just want a quiet life and really cant be arsed to engage in verbal warfare with its critics who usualy arent even in the business anyway.

Actually GTF that is a very good question you have asked and I hope the anti UKAP folk respond because I would like to hear it in their own words what their beef is with UKAP.

This would make for very interesting reading Im sure

By the way a few of those producers who made derisive comments were even invited to come to the meetings but didnt take me up on the offer.

Its the main reason we had our own forum Peter.

Too many people sabotage posts and alot of producers dont like their business conducted in public when trying to communicate with other producers

Though only truly interacting with UKAP as an entity for the first time in recent months, I have been acquainted with several of its members for a few years.

I've yet to see a good reason anyone would hold a grudge against the organization. From everything I've seen, all they've ever wanted to do was help folks.

Has UKAP always been successful in its ventures? No. And I'd be shocked if you could find me a single trade organization (in porn or mainstream) that has achieved every goal. Furthermore, I don't think anyone involved with UKAP would ever say that the organization hasn't made mistakes. But that is part of the process, trial and error, and hopefully a little bit foresight when needed the most.

Another point of interest is that UKAP has made strides towards uniting the UK scene as a whole. As I'm sure all the professionals who are reading this can acknowledge, the UK porn scene is extremely fragmented. Without UKAP, it would only continue down this path.

And finally, for the fans out there that are disappointed that the public aren't allowed into the parties, I understand. All you want to do is meet the performers, shake hands with your favorite directors and generally just feel like a part of things. Believe me, I can empathize. I was a fan first. Hell, I still consider myself a fan first.

But please keep in mind that UKAP is a trade organization. It's there for the purposes of inter-business cooperation and networking.

Now, is there a need for a better fan show in the UK? Absolutely. But the UKAP events are for business purposes and have never been intended for other means. And for what it's worth, at the last party, all I did was talk business and I was in the majority on that front (and that includes the models). Other than the occasional glimpse up a girl's skirt, I can say that the average fan would probably find the whole thing rather disappointing.
