I have done quite a bit of research into the possibility of some one contracting HIV through the eye membrane, This is the reply i have been sent by a leading american organisation
I do not know the exact odds or chances of a person becoming infected with a sexually transmitted disease (STD) through getting semen into his/her eye. Many STDs are transmitted through semen; therefore, if semen gets into the eye, there is a risk of STD transmission. For example, gonorrhea can be transmitted to the eyes through getting semen that contains the bacteria into the eye. The lining of the eye is a mucous membrane (soft tissue) and has the ability to absorb viruses and bacteria directly into the bloodstream.
Hope this has cleared things up for people

Err no. You didn't say what the chances were. Most models I've worked with recently smoke. Isn't the chance of getting a STD through the eyes a few billion times less likely that the model dropping dead with lung cancer or heart disease?

I wish I had never got involved in this subject - I've received UNBELIEVABLE amounts of "negative attitude" as a result - much of it from people I would have hoped would have looked at the issue differently...
However, on the other hand I am pleased it has RAISED AWARENESS of a RISK that would otherwise have remained UNBEKNOWN TO THE MAJORITY!
Roger and many others are using a smoking analogy - it isn't analagous... The risks of smoking ARE WELL KNOWN BY VIRTUALLY EVERY INDIVIDUAL IN THE DEVELOPED WORLD. People are therefore taking a KNOWN RISK...
The whole issue revolves around awareness - and the fact is there IS a risk that many were unaware of.
As I said - it is something I deeply regret getting involved with on the one hand, but on the other I am pleased that an awareness in some does exist directly as a result of this forum.
