Re: britporn film costs
Ahh the old 'How long is a piece of string?" analogy
I'm reliably informed of the answer to that age old question, is...
Exactly twice as long as it is from the middle to one end...

Re: britporn film costs
You have to compare like with like really. Gonzo films cost pretty much the same worldwide, ie virtually zero when you knock off the cost of the performers. If you already own the DV camera and the PC you're editing on, what else is there to spend money on? OK, you should use 'virgin' DV tapes for the best quality, but there you're talking no more than fifty quid. In fact, US gonzo will actually be cheaper to produce than UK as the cost of tapes is less over there (call it thirty quid rather than fifty). The only other possible cost is a location fee if you're not using your own/the model's flat. A location fee for a couple of hours filming will presumably be another fifty quid or so, so with a few scenes in different locations it could add up a little. Add a bit for clothes and make-up if the model's not using their own. Five hundred quid absolute tops. Obviously the model's fees will ramp this up, but unless you're filming some huge reverse gang bang or something, you're probably looking at a total cost somewhere between ?2K and ?6K, depending on the number of performers you're using. There are obviously other costs involved in getting the product onto the shelves (printing and duplication costs, BBFC fees, etc) but this the cost of producing the film itself, and will be roughly similar whether you're in California or Cricklewood. Non-gonzo films, of course, is another matter as the Yanks do wild and crazy things like hiring proper lighting, the spendthrift buffoons.
