Have you tried using Photoshops's automate function to do
the watermarking in the background/overnight ?

I have not done so myself, but I read a magazine article the
other day that made it sound very 'do-able.' The following

Another option is to use Arles Thumbnail Generator. It creates watermarked images, thumbnails and the HTML code.
