Meeting re HIV & STD certs in the UK industry
Re: Meeting re HIV & STD certs in the UK industry
I am not clear what point you are making, Dave. Lots of things, boxing for example, are controlled by their own regulators. Every time an industry or sport changes its own rules it does not require an Act of Parliament. I would suggest that most MP's are not only lacking in knowledge of the subject involved, but also decidely unsympathetic to the issues insofar as they affect adult performers.

The basic facts are that 1 in 12 girls between 18-24 are infected with chlamydia, and I do not know what the figures are for guys, but I suspect they are pretty much the same.
So it is good personal practice to get tested for STD's as
regularly as is practicable, whether you are in the industry or not.
If you get lucky down your local disco once a month for a year, then statistically you have encountered chlamydia.
So whether you wore a condom or not you have a high chance of contracting this disease. I personally think that a STD
test if you are anything but monogomous is a must.
Cheers CC.

Re: Meeting re HIV & STD certs in the UK industry
I would like to add several much missed points on this subject.
The current testing is completely wrong.
In America all stars are tested every 28 days for hiv and stds.
The test that they take in the usa is called a "pcr hiv" which can detect the hiv antibody in 3 days!
In the uk they are only given a basic hiv test, so no matter which way you look at it, it is not really the time scale that every body should be worrying about but the test itself.
Also being a manager of some of the uk top models that go and work in the usa, and formally being an actress myself I know how inportant the health issue is.
I think that if some of the nurses from the clinic went to America and stood behind Sharon Mitchell for a while they would see how testing should be done.
Jason is a good manager and put me on my way many years ago and it is a good step forward , but Jason please also cover the type of testing that goes on, if you need advice let me know I have been working in L.a for the last 6 years.
Also I would also like to add that as I am also a location finder and Manager both here and in the Usa, I am on alot of sets in London, and I was very upset earlier today when I witnessed a model turn up to a shoot with a written hiv test which the clinic would not confirm to us!!!!!!!!!
Not only is this scary for the guys, but out of the 3 male performers that were going to be in the shoot, 2 stayed to discuss the problem and 1 went into another room and said to just let him know what was the desicion to shoot or not.
This I could not believe as he is rated 1 of the top best performers in the uk, and his dick is his future, all the group should of stayed togeather and discussed this, so I also say that some guys are willing to work as all 3 did as they carried on without confirmation on her test, so if there is a sudden spread of diseases then I know where they come from, and so ending this I say thease guys who know what I am talking should take care and so should everybody around them.
If any body needs advice on present testing in the usa to push it through here drop me a line

PCR has been mentioned - perhaps not in this specific thread, but in threads concerning Jason's push to introduce 30day testing.
PCR would be a massive leap forward - I agree that going to 30 days with the current form of test is still an advance but it still leaves many question marks over a persons health status.
My concern remains the same - DO WE HAVE THE INFRASTRUCTURE IN PLACE TO CATER FOR 30 DAY TESTS?
I have been trying for the last fortnight to get an appointment on a thursday down at Indigo (admittedly at reasonably short notice) and all to no avail...
Now I hope sincerely that the result of this meeting is a concerted push to INTRODUCE A CAPABLE TESTING NETWORK - perhaps something like Indigo but on a regional level, and yes, the introduction of PCR.
Technology has moved on apace - surely PCR shouldn't be prohibitively expensive?
I have to make my apologies for the meeting on FRiday - I had hoped to be able to make it but circumstances mean I have to be up here in Sheffield. Best wishes to all those that are attending - I hope there is some good discussion and several good outcomes from the meeting,
Jack
