Masters of Metal by Lee Martyn 1984 Zomba Books

48 bands/solo artists over 128 pages with short bios and discography

It covers the whos who of heavy rock/metal to the obscure unknowns

The Rock Says.... Is good but not as good as the two Mick Foley books, Mankind and Foley Is Good.
