For a totally mind numbing experience check out Arch Enemy, incredible
female vocals (sounds like Satan), and the guitar work is awesome,
panatonic scales a plenty.
The best thing out of Sweden ever.

Sammy Hagar is all class
I actually think he showed David Lee Roth was nothing more than a Great Showman with Van Halen
Might have something to do with his early work with Montrose(Bad Motor Scooter Rocks-in fact that whole album was a classic) & his solo career
Songs like I can't drive 55,Heavy Metal,Two Sides of Love,Theres Only One Way to Rock,Give to Live & Eagles Fly are brilliant
Brilliant voice and not to shabby on the Guitar(hard to believe Ronny Montrose only used him for his vocals)
cheers

Steve Vai's intro riff on "Now Your Gone" by Whitesnake is pretty cool.
Nuno from Extreme played a got riff on "Mutha don't wanna go school today"
Eddie Van Halens Riff on Jacko's "Beat It" is catchy
Ted Nugent "Cat Scratch Fever" Riff Rocks!

Re: Steve Vai passion and warfare
I got into Steve Vai through this album and the fact he has the Ibanez jem77 floral guitar which i thought was amazing. I did manage to learn to play " for the love of god" to a passable standard back in 1990 but i still havent recovered and now pass the time playing the Oasis back catalogue (which is more fun!).

Re: 4 chords
I have an epiphone Explorer, a US Washburn vintage (1981) Stratocaster and a couple of acoustics, but my favourite is a Tokai Telecaster which is identical to the Fender model, its rare in that Tokai were forced to re-design the logo as it was VERY similar to the Fender logo, and mine is one of those. Its vintage and has the added value of being autographed by Joe Strummer on the scratchplate
The West London of my youth is now on dvd

Beat It is my all time no1 guitar riff although eddie was playing he didnt write it - just the solo
its a perfect riff...even the verse part of the chords are the tail end notes of the main riffs....and it blurred genres in the early 80s...perfect
