I think the fact that he abused his new liver after assurances he wouldn't makes many fans resigned to the fact that he really did blow it.
Brilliant player, and by all accounts, a nice genuine person makes it sad, and alcoholism is a sickness..........but not taking his prescribed medication for organ transplant and drinking to excess really doesn't get a lot of sympathy

The West London of my youth is now on dvd

Weather warning:

Post by The Last Word »

A deep trough of nostalgia is predicted to settle over the country in the next few days, with high wind and gale force gushes in many papers by the weekend. Showers, or possibly longer periods of public weeping, may cause interference to television signals. Most areas will see some of it, especially in the over-exposed lower regions, though there could well be sheltered spots in the highlands.

I'm the same Dave but then compassion is a natural part of human nature and it's good that we feel sorry for someone close to deaths door.

It shows that we have feelings etc.

That said, like the others, I have to come back to the fact that he brought it all on himself but maybe now is not the time to go into all that.

Sad day. Just driven past Old Trafford and Sir Matts statue is covered in flowers etc.

After he packed up playing he may have been a bit of an arse but as a footballer his name says it all - he was the BEST.

i went into london today and everone on the tube and in the shops was talkin about him as the legend he was. it was really nice.

i dont think its nice to talk badly of him as he was such a grand entertainer.
he lived his life how he wanted and god bless him.

The saddest part of it was the fact he brought it on himself. When you can see the writing on the wall and you have the opportunity to turn adversity around and you don't is the saddestpart of this whole story...I just hope many others learn from this...but you know they won't and so it goes on...

George...rest in peace
