Is Chavez a Roman Catholic? I saw a picture of him with that old ex Nazi the Pope. Does anyone know?

Puhlease. Slag him off for being a narrow-minded conservative if you will, but like everyone else the Pope had to join the Hitler Youth at age 14 - membership was legally required for all non-Jews after December 1936. BTW one of his cousins with Down's Syndrome was murdered by the Nazis in 1941.

Mike, the Hispanic left (in both Spain and Latin America) has always had an uncomfortable relationship with the Catholic Church. Whatever Chavez's own religious views, it's guaranteed that the Church will disapprove of his politics.
