I'm all for advancement of technology, don't get me wrong!
I don't think walking to the shop, is a step backwards though.
While technology's advancing, the evolutionary process within us has halted! I think we need the right balance.
Seriously though Mojo, to hear some drivers defending their 'right to drive' reminds me of people who defend their religion, against all common sense.

I've got no probs with going by bus when I've got the family Mega Rider. Oh, and when the f***in' thing runs on time and when I don't keep on catching colds off of the other passengers. !annoyed!
Regarding your comment about cutting down the Rain Forest to make Bio Ethanol. Has it ever occurred to you that with such a fuel running all our vehicles (as they do in Brazil!), then we won't have to rely on the Middle East anymore, 'cause we can grow and make the stuff HERE! There you go, kills four birds with one stone.
1. We can make a home grown industry out of making our own fuel (helps out the farmers).
2. No more long distance transport of fuels into the country.
3. Cleaner fuels (water vapour instead if noxious gasses).
4. And we put all those West hating Arabs in the poor house into the bargain!
"Luverly Jubbly!", as Del Boy would say. !happy!

Well, I have never had public school education, but the last time I went on a bus must have been 25 years ago. It was not a pleasant experience and will not be repeated in my lifetime.
I've always turned left when boarding an aircraft, as well. If that makes me a snob, then that's fine. I'm a self-made man and proud of what I've achieved. If that means occasions of conspicuous consumption, so be it.
