The trouble with Big Sam and Newcastle is that they're polar opposites in footballing terms.

Firstly, Newcastle fans seem to think that they have not only just the god-given right to a European spot, but that they should be playing exciting, attacking football with bags of flair. The so-called 'Newcastle way'. Well, the 'Newcastle way' of football has won them fuck all for over 50 years so their mindset needs to change, and their expectations should be lower.

Secondly, while Big Sam built Bolton on a solid defence and organisation, he must be a little more adaptive when he has more creative players at his disposal. He must know that going to Newcastle meant playing a different way, and this was a chance to add another string to his bow; to prove he could evolve and be successful playing a different style. He can't.

Both parties are incompatible. Newcastle fans need to be more realistic, and Sam needs to learn and adapt to a more creative style. Up to now, neither are budging.

Some truths, but football should always be played the proper way on the grass instead of in the air. Fans have every right to complain if they have to watch long or direct football. Long ball football nearly killed football for many fans in the 80's, it took the 90 world cup to revive the English game.

Fans will walk, if they have to spend a fortune watching the ball go back and forward in the air like a tennis match!

With the money we spend, I think battling for Europe should be what the fans expect, they would be crazy to be happy with mid table.

We don't expect to win trophies (although it would be nice to win one every 10 seasons or so), but it would be nice to again compete in a few competitions.

Sam cam with a reputation for putting together a team that was hard to beat and organised. many if not all fans would be happy with that if we were winning games and scoring goals, but in reality we are now more organised than any other season, but now any little flair seems to have been sucked out of the team!

Long way to go yet, I'll wait and see by May

Being honest Ferguson couldn't sort out Newcastle.
They are a mid table club with a large fan base, 52 years since they won a trophy and not likely to in the near future.
