That's what I did. My lappy had Norton pre-installed when I bought it. When I came to remove Norton I did just as PC did. There were a couple of residual folders remaining but I just deleted those.
Norton is a heavy user of resources. Someone described it as a Tank moving slowly across a muddy field.
