I think he might have put up a bit more of a fight if McAllister wasn't available, clever move by Bates as the Leeds fans love him
Plus in reality a first division club will never be able to stop a premier league club taking people from them

we are Leeds.... , and we can still beat the mighty Chester

You've got a point about the prem clubs having power over lower league clubs, and McAlister is a good choice to take over as manager.

Btw,are you sure Leeds fans love Ken Bates? !confused!
Just wait till he puts your ticket prices up and prices out the REAL fans once you're back in the Premiership.

I should know !wink!

we don't have a great love for Bates, but he did help save us going under, and beggers can't be choosers

as for tickets prices, he already did. Last year in the championship a normal ticket was ?30, they have dropped this year but still around the ?25 mark

I too have to be grateful to Bates who saved us back in 1982,but he did take the piss at times, especially when he wanted to erect an electric fence around Gate 13 in the old West Stand.

I'll never forgive Bates for the way he treated Matthew Harding(god rest him) and the way he rubbished Harding's memory after his death. And for the way he treated the great Peter Osgood(god rest him) and Alan Hudson whom Bates done fuck all to support Hudson when he got aithritis(sp?) and when he had that horrific car accident.

Bates may of done alot of good things but he goes down in my estimation as a very nasty man.

Good luck for the season btw !drink!

Sort of Randy II.I personally will never understand the role of 'director of football'.But i do know that directors of football eventually end up becoming the next manager of the respective club.

Avram Grant is only at Chelsea because he's Abramovich's pal,but he seems to be doing something right !shocked!Super Randy II wrote:

I loved Batesy for that one, even though it was a media exercise

Agreed, Matthew Harding was the fans favourite and regularly seen necking Guiness before a game on the Kings Road pubs. Much missed

And for the way he treated the great Peter

Yes, but Ossie did slag Ken off, and his job of visiting corporate people in the poncey boxes was a cash in hand job

and Alan Hudson whom Bates done fuck all

That was scandalous as well

Batesy is a nasty little despot, regardless of what he did at Chelsea. He is a ruthless cunt and I hated him for sacking Luca Vialli and for trying to withhold wages to Gigi Casiraghi when he underwent career threatening injury (which he lost)......However, he deserves his legacy at Stamford Bridge

The West London of my youth is now on dvd

I've met the man on the street............and he's a cunt
