They were probably referring to that elusive number one single - number one albums never had that 'it's number one, top of the pops' kudos, though there were so many different singles charts published in the 60's with so many different results even now what was the 'official' chart is subject to debate

They're locking them up today, they're throwing away the key...I wonder who it be tomorrow, you or me?

R.E.M never had a UK nuber one either(although all thy're albums post Out of time have reached UK #1), I seem to remember reading "with a little help from my friends" as sung by Ringo Starr didn't even get into the top forty, but when Joe Cocker covered it it was a big hit.

I could'nt be bothered to read every post on here so apologies if my choice is repetitive.

Vienna by Ultravox.A cracking, pulsating record that was kept off No1 in the 1980's by that 'wannabee eyetie' Joe Dolce and 'Shaddupa your face'

Goes to show what sort of cunts buy records !whistle!

More recently though.I met Sophie Ellis Bextor in Magaluf one summer and had to buy her a drink..........for keeping Victoria Beckham off the No1 spot !happy!

Here here colonel, and it was a well voiced song as well.Probably the best England song apart from World In Motion, despite John Barnes's feeble attempt to rap !laugh!colonel wrote:
