Home Sec - scrounger? You decide.
It goes without saying that if you or I, well you, were being investigated by the Social/HMCR/officialdom for possibly diddling the public purse to the tune of 100k, you can bet that you would be treated an awful lot different to how Smith is being dealt with. Immeadiate cessation of benefit, intrusive investigation of your circumstances, possible involvement of plod, irrespective of whether you thought you had broken the rules or not

Re: AND !
Berlusconi passed a law giving himself immunity from prosecution for life- nice if you can do it.
Where is the fiddling from Smith? Can you explain exactly?
Because apart from one chavette ITN interviewed- probably a relative of Alfie 'Stud' Patten?-, there is no evidence of this non-offence!

I believe that's being looked into right now, colonel.
But whatever they ultimately find, Andy makes a valid point in his initial post.
I think that the outcome is predictable enough though: "No further action". The establishment (Labour or Tory - it doesn't matter) are very good at looking after each other.
But in any case, even in the extremely unlikely event that she's found to have a case to answer, I'd say that the danger of her being arrested and thus added to the DNA database is virtually nil.

Re: AND !
Now lets get real shall we.
Firstly there is no way to condone what has been done, as far as I am concerned, however it looks like it's within the rules which, far from nothing being done, are being looked at.
Anyone who says they won't or wouldn't use grey areas if they were aware of them for their own gain is a liar.
So she has done (if proved) exactly what most here would do given half the chance.
Wrong? Yes
Worth ranting about? Probably but only for the right reasons
Pretending you wouldn't do it given half the chance? Silly
and Eric is right the party doesn't matter it's down to the person and if they chose to claim it.
