Britain's first porno star came years ago in the last century about 1864 soon after the invention of photography. However the first acknowledged pornstar was the American actress Linda Lovelace who starred in Deep Throat.

About this time in the 1980s I made Truth or Dare starring Paula Meadows and Lyndsay Honey(later known as Ben Dover) and this film won acclaim as the first British porno film made with a professional cast and a script.

I was voted Erotic Director of the Year by The Erotic Awards run by Dr Tuppy Owens.

Hi Mike, truth or dare was one of the first pornos I ever saw. I didn't know what it was called until recently via this very site. Truth or Dare is available from a lot of Vintage sites by Torrent download. At the time Videx titles were being printed straight off Umatic master onto High Grade tape and the quality was good. I have got hold of several original tapes and will re-release them when I find someone to get a professional conversion onto DVD.
Paula Meadows the star became a professiona lartist and later published a book of her erotic drawings (there is a link to Paula off my site). Her husband Frank wrote the script. Yes the film was horny as well as starring Lyndsay Honey AKA Ben Dover and his massive member.

Some very interesting comments there, and informative. I wonder, bearing in mind we are a bit of a prudish nation, whether anal sex (man to woman) and double-penetration, were properly legal here from when hardcore porn was permitted to be made (from the year 2000 onwards). Apparantly doing someone up the ass is still illegal in some American States. I would imagine that when Ginger Lynn, the US pornstar who made anal sex popular, was being filmed being fucked up the arse back in the early and mid 1980's, the authorities may have had something to say about it. In fact I believe she was arrested several times, and so were the filmmakers. Did anyone have their collar's felt by the authorities over here when hardcore became mainstream from 2000 onwards? I mean Laura Hermansen, in the 2001 film "Deep Desires" is double-penetrated by two huge guys in a scene lasting about half an hour (I have the film). As this is only a year after hardcore became permitted in the UK, and this may well have been the hardest scene ever filmed in Britain up to that point, I do wonder whether Laura, the two studs, and the film makers, may have been approached by the long arm of the law for 'a bit of a chat'. Or was it basically a case of 'anything goes' from the year 2000 onwards?
