Yes, I'd say that making a living is up there in importance. Look, again I think I might have to clarify the point of my main argument again. It's not that I think you should do something so impractical and drastic as put yourself in financial difficulties by moving home or getting a different job, I just don't agree with you that your car is 'essential' or a 'necessity'.

By the sounds of it your car is an important part in keeping your job and home in order, so to speak, and I fully understand. But please just admit the car makes your life easier and if oil ran out at the weekend you and your family would still be alive and well.

Having a car certainly makes my life easier but my job requires me to have a drivers licence and without my car or motorbike I would probably have to look for other employment.
Since it is unlikely that the oil will run out this weekend I will continue to run my car to work and earn a relatively good wage. I agree that my family would not die if the oil ran out, but surely my objective is to do the best I can for them. I could get a job a few hundred yards from my house (on minimum wage) but I would be a poor provider if I didn't do the best I could.

No I do not drive.

Yes I'm working part-time to put myself through Uni.

I've already mentioned this on these boards in the past, numerous times. Luckily for me public transport is adequate for me to get to where I need to go, but none of this takes anything away from my points (unless I really did drive and thus a little hypocritical).
As for this drivel:
I don't see how it's drivel. I'm sure if you don't want to be labelled a troll again, who just attacks rather than debates, you'll be able to explain what you mean and justify your conclusion.

I couldn't agree more. Maybe the best thing you could do for your family would be to contribute to a brighter future? After all, if you have kids then global warming will affect their lives much more than it's affecting yours right now.

Again, since you keep harping on about how life will be worse, (financially at least) without your car, I'll stress again that I don't have as much of an issue with your car use as your excuse that it's a necessity.

It's never been a secret. And you never had a case.

Quite right Sam. I think I'll quit my job, sell my car(the proceeds should keep us going for a while) then I'll take up a dead end job on minimum wage and let my family rummage through the second hand shops for whatever they need.
I went to college for 3 years when I was learning my trade. I did that to get myself a better job (read higher paid). I have also spent some years in a very labour intensive job sometimes not seeing my bed for 46 hours (my longest stretch) but it paid very well at the time. Can I ask what your reason is for going to university ?
