Sam Slater,
Because different parts of he world react in different ways, for example if the Gulf Stream was diverted then it would get colder in the UK but all this is irrelevant because no one can predict wheter it will get colder or hotter it's all up to that great big nuclear reactor in space called the sun.

I asked first........remember?

For the third time: Why do you think you know that cars and power stations cause pollution?

Fair enough. I didn't really mean anyone specifically with that line. It's just always fascinating in some cases how people hate on environmentalists....when they have little or nothing to gain from it.

As far as the subject of electric cars and pollution goes, that kind of depends. They are less of a strain on the environment than "normal" cars. Of course, that would depend on what method is used to cough up the electricity for said electric cars. Considering the alternatives, a nuclear energy production powered nation would offset significantly less pollution than a coal energy one, or this "normal" car thing we have going on.

As odd as it may sound, the nuclear boogeyman people have learned to be frightened of is currently the most green way of producing energy out of the viable options.

On a recent trip to Russia (St Petersburg), I discovered that their electricity was generated by nuclear power stations and the area I was in, had their heating supplied by the cooling water from the reactor which was 30 miles away. Not without it's risks, but I'm sure that with the correct regulation it must be preferable to putting all that waste heat into the sea/ up a cooling stack.

Ogre ,
I alys used to read about the Irish Sea being the most radioactive in the world or has it all been cleaned up now and there is no pollution from radio active effluent from nuclear power stations?
